The 80,000 sq/ft, $6.5 million processing centre is home to the latest in eWaste processing technology and represents a significant step in eCycle Solutions’ ongoing expansion into Central and Eastern Canada.

eCycle Solutions expands collection to Calgary Best Buy and Future Shop Locations

August 19, 2009 – Airdrie, AB: eCycle Solutions today expanded their Calgary area collection network to include all Best Buy and Future Shop Stores in Calgary. This builds on our pre-existing partnership in the Calgary area with Staples Business Depot and brings the total number of depots we operate in Calgary to 22.

“We have had tremendous success in Calgary implementing our return to retail program and are pleased to expand coverage in Calgary.” Said Clayton Miller, Director – Communication & Business Development, eCycle Solutions.

The success of this program can be attributed in large part to the City of Calgary’s support for return-to-retail electronics recycling. In Calgary, residents are directed by City administration to select retail locations to drop off old and unwanted electronics for recycling…a natural closing of the lifecycle loop.

“We applaud the City of Calgary for thinking outside the box in supporting this type of collection system. And we applaud Staples Business Depot, Best Buy and Future Shop for stepping up to the plate and acting as responsible corporate citizens to do their part to keep this material from landfill sites.” Said Mr. Miller.

The partnership of eCycle Solutions, Staples Business Depot, Best Buy and Future Shop combines to divert more than 1 million kgs of eWaste from Calgary landfill sites annually.

eCycle Solutions Expands Electronics Recycling to Mississauga, Ontario

June 15, 2009 – Mississauga, ON: eCycle Solutions is pleased to announce the opening of our latest eWaste processing facility in Mississauga, Ontario. This facility forms a central component of our collection and processing infrastructure as the Company expands operations in Eastern Canada.

“Since inception, eCycle Solutions has focused on being an approved processor under each and every stewardship program in Canada.” Said Gary Powers, President – eCycle Solutions. “With our recent approval under the newly launched Ontario Electronics Stewardship program, we are now in a position to aggressively tackle the Eastern Canadian market with a fully national electronics recycling solution.”

The Mississauga facility will accept electronics from throughout Ontario and process them on site. This strategy of processing eWaste locally reduces GHG emissions by reducing transportation to central processing centers.

“Our network of processing facilities is having an increasingly meaningful impact on overall reduction of GHG emissions related to transportation of whole electronics for recycling. Our ability to locally process material reduces costs, increases economic development in the community and is better for the environment overall.” Said Mr. Powers.
